NIGHTWISH Confirmed For Britain's BLOODSTOCK 2003 Festival
December 13, 2002Finland's NIGHTWISH have been confirmed to headline the second day of the Bloodstock 2003 metal festival.
The Finnish act, who are taking most of next year off and are only playing selected key dates, will be performing their first-ever U.K. show at Bloodstock, a two-day event set to take place Aug. 29-30, 2003 at the Assembly Rooms in Derby. The group will also perform a headlining show in London on Aug. 31.
AMUST4MUSIC promoters Vince Brotheridge and Paul Gregory, who are organizing the festival, has the following to say: "Bloodstock is pleased to attract such a major band for the first time, having set the precedent of premier debut appearances for PRIMAL FEAR in 2001 and BLIND GUARDIAN in 2002. The U.K. needs a metal festival, which aspires to the heavy metal tradition born from the 70s onwards and keeps this style of music alive into this century and beyond! NIGHTWISH are an awesome band live, combining operatics with power metal — very unique, but with major appeal, as can be heard with their latest No. 1 European-selling CD, 'Century Child'."
A total of 18 bands will perform at Bloodstock, the official lineup for which will be announced over the coming months.
